Finding a job is always stressful, especially when it happens for the first time. People who are looking for work are afraid and embarrassed that they lack experience and the necessary skills. But many employers are looking for new employees without experience and are ready to train them. That is why the task of each applicant is to present himself competently and make a resume so that the employer notices him and invites him to work.

It must be remembered that the purpose of your resume is to show the employer that you are the right person for this vacancy.

The summary should indicate the main sections. I will tell you more about them: 

1. Name, contacts and other basic information

It is necessary to specify only up-to-date data: phone number, e-mail, which you check daily and to which you have permanent access, address of residence. If you wish, you can add a link to a social media page if you think that your page can make a good impression on a future employer.

2. Personal information

This section is optional, but you can fill it out if you want to distinguish yourself from other applicants. There is no need to write common phrases and template skills, for example, “sociability”, “stress tolerance”, “efficiency". It is better to write what you want to get from this job, what heights you want to achieve and what you can offer to the employer. Here you can also note your participation in championships, volunteer projects, and the like. Many companies welcome those people who are ready to take on new tasks, explore new areas and constantly learn, so your participation in projects will also make a difference.

3. Key skills

The employer needs to understand what you are offering and what he will get if he takes you to work. You need to make a short list of your skills, which will necessarily correspond to this vacancy. And the plus will be that you specify where and how these skills were acquired. You can write about the ability to work with such programs and technologies, the possession of which is required for this vacancy. Here you can also specify the courses, seminars, trainings that you have passed – this will be a huge plus in the eyes of a future employer.

4. Work experience

If you do not have any work experience, then you can write here all your internships, internships, any temporary projects in which you participated. You can mention volunteer programs, championships. This point, of course, will attract attention, as it will show your desire to develop and strive for new tasks.

If, however, you had some short-term work experience in companies, then indicate their full name, the position you held and the exact time of work, even if it was some kind of short-term internship for a couple of weeks. Be sure to write down exactly what your responsibilities were. At the same time, you do not need to limit yourself to one sentence, for example, “help to the head”, it is better to describe in a little more detail: “I answered calls and emails, assisted at meetings, prepared minutes of the results of meetings.”

5. Education and training

Here you need to specify your secondary or, if available, higher education, as well as all additional courses, lectures, seminars, webinars that have improved your qualifications and helped you acquire the necessary skills.

6. Interests

This is also not a mandatory section, but here you can specify those interests that help you improve in the professional field. There is no need to write about religious or political preferences, and you also need to make sure that your interests do not contradict the position and corporate ethics of the company you choose to work with.

7. Recommendations

This is also not a mandatory section, but here you can write that recommendations will be provided upon request. Also, you do not need to include your friends or relatives who are not related to your field of activity in the list of people who recommend you.

Another tip for making a resume - it should not exceed 1-1.5 pages. Try to indicate only important information for a potential employer. If the employer wants to know the details, then you can tell about it at the interview.

It is also necessary to pay attention to the photo. A photo is not a prerequisite for a resume, but it is desirable. Your photo will make it easier to recognize you when you meet and show your responsible attitude to your future career.

Before sending a resume, you need to check it for literacy. You can ask friends or relatives to read your resume, because some mistakes can not always be noticed by yourself. And if you mention such qualities as “literacy” in your resume, but at the same time write with errors, this can undoubtedly alienate a potential employer.

Compose a cover letter

A cover letter increases your chances of attracting the attention of a recruiter or potential employer. And some employers require a cover letter and do not consider a resume without it. Such a letter should be individual and compiled for each specific vacancy.

It is better to make the letter brief, it should take no more than 15 – 30 seconds to read it. Also, it is not necessary to duplicate template letters, I believe that this is disrespectful to a future employer. There is no need to retell your resume in this letter, it is better to focus on what distinguishes you from other candidates, why you chose this particular company and how it hooked you.

Specify your salary expectations

If you have a salary minimum below which you are not ready to consider offers, then be sure to include it in your resume. So, most likely, you will not receive irrelevant job offers.
